NEWSNYOUSEE HOW IT RIPPLES
PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

NewsNYou is built to be read without being watched. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party trackers on this site, beyond the optional email newsletter described below. This page explains the little that does happen, in plain terms.

Last updated 29 July 2026.

What we collect

Directly, almost nothing. NewsNYou has no login and no comments. The one exception is the email newsletter: if you type your address into the subscribe form, that address is collected — see below for exactly what happens to it. Everything else on the site requires no sign-up, no contact form, no account. We run no advertising, and we embed no analytics or social-media scripts that would report your visit to anyone.

The email newsletter

Subscribing is optional and opt-in only — nothing about reading the site requires it. The form is a direct submission to Buttondown, our email delivery provider; NewsNYou never sees or stores your address itself. Buttondown stores it only to send you new-analysis notifications, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. We do not use the address for anything else, and we do not share it beyond what Buttondown needs to deliver the email. Buttondown's own privacy policy governs their handling of it: buttondown.com/privacy.

What your browser stores locally

Two small preferences are saved in your own browser using local storage. They never leave your device and are never sent to us or anyone else:

You can erase all of it at any time from Cookie settings, or by clearing site data in your browser.

Server logs and hosting

NewsNYou is a static site served by a hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages). Like every web server, the host processes the standard technical details of each request — your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and a timestamp — to deliver the page and to protect the site against attacks and abuse. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you or to identify you, and we do not combine them with anything else. Their handling is governed by the host’s own privacy terms.

Third parties

One, and only if you subscribe to the newsletter: Buttondown (see above). Otherwise none are embedded in the pages — fonts, scripts, images, and data are all served from newsnyou.com itself, with no content-delivery-network calls, no web fonts loaded from Google, no embedded videos, and no share buttons that would load another company’s code as you read.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you on our side — not even newsletter subscribers, whose address lives with Buttondown, not us — there is nothing on our servers to export or delete on request. The only data tied to you is the local storage described above, which lives on your device and is entirely under your control. Questions about this policy: privacy@newsnyou.com.

Children

NewsNYou is a general-audience publication about world affairs. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If our practices ever change again, we will update this page and its date first, and say plainly what changed.
